Luzma Umpierre Collection, 1957-2009.

The Personal Papers and Correspondence section contains records of Umpierre's academic career, some of her poetry, other writings, and a selection of correspondence, both professional and personal. The Photographs include early pictures of Umpierre as a young girl and pictures of some of her family. Memorabilia includes many certificates and awards given to Umpierre. Media contains a few VHS and audiocassettes. Artwork includes paintings by Maria Morales, and posters signed by Maria Morales and Santa Barraza. The Publications section is divided into books and articles with contributions by Umpierre, and books and articles given to, or collected by Umpierre

Born in Puerto Rico in 1947, Dr. Luz Maria "Luzma" Umpierre moved to the US in 1974, and received her doctorate from Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania.
